The Taylor Statten Camps
The Taylor Statten Camps (Camp Ahmek for boys and Camp Wapomeo for girls) was founded in 1912, when Taylor Statten was on a family vacation and became fascinated with the beauty of its location on Canoe Lake, located in Algonquin Park. The camp eventually became a summer home for hundreds of children each year. With a team of dedicated staff members and energetic campers, the Taylor Statten Camps thrives on values of friendship, appreciation of the beauty of nature, and seeks to teach lifelong learning skills.
Campers reside in beautiful wood cabins, filled with seven campers and two staff members.
The Taylor Statten Camps offers sessions for two weeks, one month or two months. Campers will be sure to develop friendships that last a lifetime!
Throughout the summer, campers will be able to participate in activities such as swimming, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, pottery, arts and crafts, tennis, basketball, horseback riding, drama and many more! These activities allow campers to explore their talents, remain active and learn new skills.
Housing the two largest canoes in the world, The Taylor Statten Camps is reputable especially for its canoeing and canoe tripping program. Trips range from 2 days for the youngest campers, to as long as 50 days for older campers. These trips have the ability to build self-confidence, independence, and teach the importance of the natural environment. These trips also promote a wholesome, safe and authentic Canadian experience.
